Boating
Andover
lake is one of the cleanest lakes in Connecticut. One reason is because
NO motor boats are allowed. Actually no boats with propellers in the water
are allowed. Only row, paddle or sailboats are allowed.
Fishing
Andover
Lake offers some of the best fishing in the state of Connecticut. COME
JOIN THE FISHING FUN!!!
-
Fish species available
to test the anglers skills include: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Chain
Pickerel, Black Crappie, Brown Bullhead, White Catfish, Pumpkinseed, Bluegills,
Redbreasted Sunfish, and Yellow Perch.
-
Most anglers practice
"Catch and Release", thereby ensuring an excellent fishery for future generations.
-
Although the lake
is for ALPOA members only, all State of Connecticut, Department of Enviromental
Protection (DEP) rules and regulations, as defined in the yearly Anglers
Guide, are applicable and enforced. This includes, but not limited to,
the size and number of fish takes, as well as then need for a valid CT
fishing license for anyone over 16 years of age. The Anglers Guide is distributed
with the purchase of a fishing license, which can be purchased at any Town
Hall's Town Clerk's office, Sports Shop or K-Mart.
-
Andover Lake has no
"closed season" and is open to fishing year round, providing great fishing
opportunites from a boat or from a shore for the novice angler as well
as the more experienced angler.
