An Easter Story

I had been under care at Boylan Chiropractic for about four months and I was about ready to bust at the seams from all the energy and vitality I was gaining. I was beginning to not recognize myself anymore.

On Easter weekend my sister, Dawn, and I decided to take her kids down to New Jersey to see their 90 year old great aunt who lives alone. She had really been down and was missing the children after not seeing them for some time - neither had I for that matter.

Needless to say, the next afternoon, my nephew was bouncing off the walls and my sister took one long look at me-her face pleading-pleeease take him outside. So we grabbed the bat and ball that we had just bought earlier that day and played, ran, pitched and laughed. We competed at hopscotch and then my niece joined us and we played more baseball all over again.

So have you guessed who got worn out first? No notme. I just wore the little ones right out.

I bet you're thinking I then went inside totally exhausted and plopped down in front of the TV and vegged out. The old me would have perhaps. The new me was into engaging in conversation with this lady that had lived a life time and a half longer than I have and my sister, a mother of two. We talked over all kinds of things, some sad and some happy. The children, family, husbands, oh, life in general. During the conversation, it came up that there was an Easter sunrise service on the beach at 6 am the next morning. Aunt Genet admitted that she couldn't promise she would be doing that and my sister seemed unsure. I felt like I really wanted to check it out but how the heck was I going to be up at 5:30 am. I hadn't seen 5:30 am before.

For some reason I was wide awake ready to go the next morning. Dawn and the kids were sleeping. I looked for car keys, couldn't find them, and didn't want to wake anyone. So I just hoofed the ten blocks to the beach on foot. I got there just in time for the last verse of the final hymn and heard a "May Jesus Christ be With You" from the minister. To be honest, I had all the service I needed while walking on the boardwalk along the beach toward the building where the services were being held. The sun was coming up over the waves in the ocean and the colors on the water and in the sky were really breathtaking. I just remember thinking, "Wow, that's soooo beautiful." The sound of the surf was so calming, seagulls seemed to be happy and I felt like it was really wonderful to be alive.

Not only did my Easter weekend reaffirm the importance of spending time with family but it lifted my spirits greatly and the kids' Great Aunt Genet, of course, was all cheered up from our visit too.

Thank you Boylan Chiropractic for freeing up my nerves, or, to put if another way, Thank you for helping me to restore my Mind, Body and Soul.

The End.
