Subject: Charge of the Curriculum Committee

The Region 10 Curriculum Committee is a comprehensive panel composed of students, parents, staff, administrators and members of the Region 10 Board of Education. The charge of the committee is to review and discuss curriculum items. Region 10 has put in place a procedure for approving curriculum and textbooks that is broad based, and involves many people who represent the thoughts and thinking of others like themselves.

The process begins with recommendations from the professional staff which are then given to the Curriculum Committee to review and comment on. The purpose of this broader view is to help the professional staff and the Board of Education gauge the appropriateness of materials and programs for students in the school system. Feedback and input from the committee at their scheduled meetings is one part of an active curriculum review and change process.
