The Library program at Harwinton Consolidated School is focused on supporting the K-4 curriculum. Children in grades K-2 visit the media center weekly for library lessons. They check out books, and learn about literature and resources available at the library. Through these visits students develop an appreciation for books, and an interest in locating information independently.

The 3rd and 4th graders visit the library regularly to exchange books and continue learning about the library and using its resources. They work on grade level research projects that involve working with reference materials and on-line searching. They use the BIG6 tm www.big6.com research model to complete their projects. Third graders investigate rocks and minerals. Fourth graders explore famous Connecticut people and places.
