Welcome to Grade 3! Welcome To Grade 3! I have 21 students in my classroom this year. When you look at our weekly schedule, you can see our days are very busy. It is important to me that my students greet each day with a smile and enjoy coming to school. I always work to provide a safe, comfortable learning environment. Students learn to respect each other and to work cooperatively. They are encouraged to discuss, question, and explore. I want each of my students to have a successful year in third grade, to develop a love of learning, and to be very proud of their many accomplishments Specials
Homework: Third grade students are expected to do approximately 30 minutes of homework each night. The students have a very nice notebook called an Agenda. Each morning they will list homework assignments and special reminders in their Agendas. When I pass out homework papers or direction sheets for homework, I will ask the students to clip these papers in their Agendas so they can be easily found. It is very important that all students have their Agendas with them at all times. Your child should bring the Agenda to school each day and take it home at the end of the day. All students are expected to read silently or orally every night. Please help your child choose a book that is appropriate for their reading level. I am encouraging them to read more chapter books. I will also assign math homework, but please remember that the practice of basic math facts and computation should be ongoing throughout the year. Priority spelling words: Priority words are words that students should spell correctly in all their writing. Third graders are expected to spell the priority words from grades 1, 2, and 3 correctly. Extra practice and reminders to fix mistakes in writing would be helpful.
