Har-Bur Middle School

Serving towns of Harwinton and Burlington

Dear Parents/Guardians:

A few cases of head lice have been identified within the school.  As many of you know, this is not reflective of the cleanliness of the students or the households.  Lice are easily transmitted from student to student.  Classroom precautions are being taken, however, you would be advised to check your child for the possibility of head lice.  It is a good idea to examine your child on a regular basis in order to catch an infestation early.  Your physician can advise the proper shampoo to treat this problem.  An information sheet accompanies this letter on the reverse side.  An excellent resource can also be found on the CDC website:

We share this information with you not to create panic, but rather to keep you informed.  If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call the school nurse at 673-6163 ext. 7507 (Beth Niedmann 7/8) or ext 7310 (Rebecca Mauro 5/6).  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding concerning this matter.

Sincerely,

Beth Niedmann, R.N., School Nurse                        Rebecca Mauro, R.N., School Nurse
