Hockanum River District, Troop 1

Original Troop Charter, dated October 14, 1910.

Note: the first year of it's creation, it was assigned Troop Unit number 2.

Another troop has been assigned  Troop Unit number 1, but that troop folded in its first year and so the East Hartford became Troop 1 the following year, 1911, at the time of its recharter.

Troop 1 has remained active every year since and so has maintained its Troop 1 designation.

Today, we are told that East Hartford's Troop 1 is the oldest continuously registered Boy Scout Troop in the United States.
