The Kelsey House is a classic center chimney colonial. The southwest sitting room of this house features four scenes which are painted directly on the walls. Because wallpaper was extremely expensive in the 1800's, other walls in the house were also painted to look like wallpaper. Tinware was made by David and Enoch Kelsey. They shaped thin sheets of tin into useful household items such as pots, pans, lamps, and candle holders. The house was moved from Kelsey Street to its present location at 1702 Main Street in 1979. Today the house is a historical museum. |
